hey, i was gonna build a custom ported box tuned to 34Hz for 2 pioneer 2000spl's, but started to wonder if i should tune it higher for more spl...i tuned it low to retain sq, but all i want to know is how much of a difference in sound quality i will lose if i tune it to say....37 or 38 or 40 for example depending on how much of a difference 1Hz is..........any help will be greatly appreciated....

theyre fine as of now, (my old system was 2 12" punch z's, sealed truck box, rf 401s amp.....my ears are fine)....LOL

if you tune real high you cant have it for a daily driver IMO...you'll blow your subs trying to hit the low notes in most songs.

i personally wouldn't run any higher than 35.

what your doing by tuning higher is moving your peak up. if your tune to 30, then your peak is X and if you tune to 35, your peak moves up higher. stay with about 35hz to get a good mix of spl and sq from your subs. you can go higher and still be good if you listen to say rock or music that doenst have the super low bass, because with a higher tuning you will be loosin that low end. if you listen to rap, tune to 30-34 or so and you will be fine.
