How much do you tip?

If I am out drinking at the bar and the bartender is generious with the liquor then I tip big,if the bartender is one of those shot measuring nit wits with no sence of

self confedence then they get a shitty tip.....

When out for dinner is everything goes smooth I tip 20%,if the server is again

a nit wit with no personality I tip small........

i've charged 200.
The only way I would pay more than $15 for any food is if it were the only food available and that was going to be available for several days. If there was food available somewhere tomorrow, I would just wait. I can't really determine the difference between Wendy's 0.99 extra value menu and the best resturant in town; it's all about the same to me. I eat to fill my stomach.

Well I wouldn't go that far. If you can't tell a difference between greasy fast food shit and a real burger, I think there is something wrong.

when i had lots of ill-gotten money, i used to eat in nice restaurants all the time.

Its an nice ego boost to be 18 years old and walk into a nice place, with a bunch of people in suits waiting, and get a table for you and your under-dressed punk friends instantly because the hostess knows you will tip her (and the server) quite well.

I just don't pay attention. I see eating more as a task than as a pleasure or something to enjoy. If eating wasn't required for living, then I wouldn't.

Just wondering. I think tipping is very important. Typically i try and tip anywhere from 30% to a 100%, not because im rich or anything but because i really dont have much of a value for money (which is not a good thing at all), combined with the fact that i respect those in the service industry.
The only time i dont tip that much is when im buying a drink, then its typically 20-25% depending on what it is. I.E. It doesn't take to much effort to pour a draft or open a bottle.
totally depends on the service. If i finish my water and have to ask for the waitress to get it refilled ( this is after waiting for 5 minutres or so) guess what you aint getting shit. I'll leave whatever the change is. i.e $.35 something to insult them for not doing their jobs. If the service is good then usually 20% I dont do more than that because usually when we go out to eat its like $100+ dollars because it is usually 5 of us. and should they get tipped more than $20 per hour? hell no I have a degree and make that much.

I dont tip a percentage. I tip for how well they served me and how long I took to eat, etc...

for a quick meal at beef's or something I usually leave $3-4 for the average waiter. For a nice meal at Bone-Fish or something I tip anywhere from $10-$20

you guys that pay 50% are retarded LOL i guess im stingy with my money, but i dont think ive left anything over 10 bucks personally for a table of 4. If I get wings with friends and shit, (6-8 of us) the tip usually gets to be about 25 bucks......but they have plenty of tables and shit to look after, im not giving half the meal price to say thank you.

I just could not concieve of leaving a tip that high, let alone paying for a meal that would warrant such a high tip.

what about buffets? Do yall tip high there as well?

heh, i dont like going into high class resteraunts unless its with a female or something. And then its only so its quiet, so we can actually enjoy each other. I dont mind paying 25-40 dollars for a plate..........as long as there are crab legs and lobster tail on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I dont tip but a couple of dollars at a buffet. Bringing me a drink and taking my plates away does not warrant making a good tip IMO.

At a place like bone-fish, the waiters are there hand and foot. I also usually sit an enjoy the meal for over an hour. And they have to dress up in thoes uncomfertable uniforms...

well we often go out with my wife's best friend and husband and @ $30-$40 a pop you can easily get a $160 bill so $20 is very concievable

What exactly do you need? I just want the food, and that's it. I don't want a conversation about my day or their day or whatever. I am not trying to be a smartass, but I don't understand this extra 'service' deal. Do they do a trick when they bring the food out?? I would tip if the server did some gymnastics or something when I got my food, but otherwise the server just went to the back and got the food and brought it to me. How do you do that 'exceptionally'?

thats not what good service is about. Good services is knowing the menu and being able to answer questions about it, its being attentive but not overbearing, being able to read when you want something like the check or more bread but not annoying you with unnecessary visits or idle chatter.
