How much can you stink an RE SE before it craps out

I am getting some smell out of them but only running 1600 rms to the pair (I know more than rated) but people have sundown 1500's on them which are really 2000 watt amps so not sure. I know the old RE SE's could take massive amounts of power (6 years ago) and they would stink so bad you couldn't breathe in the car and still not blow lol. But I am not familiar with these new RE SE's. They are the newer ones. Anybody have any experience and how much power they took? and did they stink pretty good during break in? I know I have 8 of them so the smell will be stronger than it seems naturally but I got them to actually stink a decent amount yesterday. input please

Well if you're smelling the coil burning..there is only so much coil there until it doesn't work. Why push it so hard?

8 but 4 amps. And All subs smell a little through break in. Just curious what is normal

My friends Se 12's smell off of 500rms after 10-12 minutes of hard pounding, hes been doing that for about a year now though.

And not all subs "smell" during break in, none of the 15+ setups Ive owned have smelled at first

don't make sure you aren't clipping somewhat. i've smelled some serious stinky se's before and sx's. the se's where on those cheater clarion amps. its was like 3000+ on a pair.

is your enclosure sealed or vented?

if vented, make sure they aren't trying to unload. cause they will just create heat then and have little performance compared to what they should be producing.

i have an md3d on 2 re se's and have yet to get them to get stinky

vented... Honestly out of spec a little but loud as hell. I think I will be doing recones from Incrim. audio . They said 1000 watt coils (prob sim to se coils) but I am going to do a stiffer suspension to increase portability

That makes me feel a little better. Really if they didnt' blow. I have a wall which the smell is going to be worse because it is by your head. That and I have 8 subs so you will have 4 times the smell over a 2 sub setup per amount of damage

just because someone has a 2000 watt amp doesnt mean theyre sending the subs 2000 watts

if my SE starts to sound or smell funny, i turn it down. im not into burning money

im pushing about 400 to each of my se's and they get pretty dam loud . haven noticed any smells from mine yet but they sure stunk when i first to them out of the factory box
