How much can type-r's really take?

I've got two type-r 12's and they're rated at 500 rms 1500 peak but i'm wondering how much rms can i feed them without burning them up. I'm looking for a new amp to buy so give me some suggestions for that as well.

This has been debated many times on here..search the forum. Some of said up to 1000rms..but I dont believe that. Not on a daily. I wouldnt send more then 6-700

Sealed they will handle a little more than ported. But I just dont see them handling over 6-700 on a regular basis. Well, I should say a CLAMPED 6-700. People who think they are sending them 1000w are crazy

I've sent 800 to one in sealed and had no issues.

My boy had a pdx1000.1 on one and it didn't last too long to say the least.

had anywhere from 400-1100 to each 12 I've had ( owned over 40+ ) and never blew a one.. depends on how touchy you are with the knobs imo, I am more on the caution side of things so.. never had a problem.

clamped? I highly doubt a Type R can take 1100rms. Your amp might be rated at 1100 rms, but after rise it could be much less.

I'm running 2 10's in a horn off of a 2500 kicker at 2ohms never clamped to see exact power and rise though

that amp does like 2800 at 2ohm. So for them to be getting 1400 and surviving, you got some major rise going on

I've seen them fine in small sealed's off a PDX 1000.1 and sound fine and take it like a champ.

But i've also seen them fry off 500 with a clipped signal.

Just be responsible about settings and keeping the signal clean. I vote 750 MAX.
