How loud is Too loud?

Actually, that'll be pretty quiet IMO.I just depends on your definition of loud.Unless I can feel a guitar riff shred through my ear drums, it's not loud enough //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

x2. I played my stock speakers off an old RF Punch amp. It got louder much louder and when turned all the way up with the doors closed you could hear it no problem from the outside. Some people that sat in my car said it was loud, however, I thought it needed to be louder.

To the OP, if you are willing to spend a good hundred or two, you can get 90w @ 4 ohms easily. As someone else stated, just post your budget and if you need a 2 chan or 4 chan amp.

Right now im only using the headunit which is only putting out around 20 watts a channel. When turned all the way up it gets pretty loud, in my opinion. So is it safe to say that if I think 20 watts a channel of headunit power is loud, then shoud 60 watts be three times as loud?

nope. doubling power = 3db theoretical gain. doubleing cone area = 3db theoretical gain. it take roughlly 6-10db to sound twice as loud to the human ear. just get a good 100-120w amp set the gain, and retain some head room. as long as its a clean signal you can probably even send more than that. but it will be noticeably louder off an amp
