How loud is my new system?

Well ****...this isnt a system someone will laugh at is it?
Im real new to this stuff so take it easy on a noob.

Now if we want to talk modding the motor/transmission etc...then im your man....but this stuff is like chinese to me.

I was told by the guy at mr.tunes it would be low 140 db...thats all i know...and i have read several posts that says this is a decent combo...so thats why I bought it.

It'll sound good, but I really doubt 140+ w/ that setup. I'd say mid 130

Did the guy have an abnormally large nose, or abnormally large earlobes? 3 JL 12's sealed, with 1 18 sealed, running off a 3k watt amp, did a 138 on our meter at our last competition. If you want to find out for sure, we will be having another competition this Saturday right down the street from tunes at Sound USA. C'mon out. And if you do decide to upgrade in the future, you may wanna check this place out. Tunes has an AC meter, which you very well may be in the low 40's. The term-lab is less forgiving. If I had to guess, I'd say low 30's, legal, on the dash. Like I said, c'mon out Saturday afternoon! Judging from who was there last time, you could place well.

should be fairly loud for a noob setup. just make sure the gains are set correctly. If your setting with the dmm method you don't have to hold it back for break in.

Basically the breaking in is just loosening up the suspension. The break in time is just so people don't run a clipped signal because the sub doesn't seem loud due to stiff suspension, making it less efficient.

Hey Sully, how do you like those VMax's?
Very much! They sound nice and tight, good sq, and they handle a lot of power for burps, and they're insanely cheap! I would recommend to anyone not wanting to spend a fortune, but still wanting good sound. The only negative thing I can say about these subs, is they have the push in terminals. A pain in the arse. I would like to see them have screw ins, but that's a minor inconvenience!
