How long to build a system?

How long does it take you guys to pick out everything you want, make sure you got the est you can, build the box, install and shipping of products and all that?

And second question is how long does it take you to prepare for the system. I recently got into putting in my 1st system back in around the end of June. I didn't actually have everything in and installed and bumping right until the end of August. It took me two months. For my next system, I want a top of the line system and won't be installing for about 9 or 10 more months so I have plently of time to prepare/save money and the other good stuff. Think this is long enough?

that should be enough time. saving money takes alot of time for some people(like myself) so that can slow down the process but make sure you look into every possibility and get exactly what your looking for but the fabrication part is fairly quick as long as you know what you are doing , have all equipment, and aren't getting to crazy with fabrication . but you should have plenty of time !

2 months is quick. Some people like me take forever. I've been going on for years and still have not settled on the perfect setup. There are always new things out on the market to tinker with. If I were to build a system for someone else, it'll take about 2 weeks from start to finish. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Budget is my main constriction. All I need is a couple hundred more and I can do my fiberglass box/amp mounting w/ a dls sub and be done.....until cash flow allows an Eclipse Double din Nav, and then I bluetooth my stereo to work with my phone, until I hear something better and have to start over, it really never ends.

took me almost 4 years to get to where i am.

on and off switching from different brands from USacoustic to Crossfire to JL Audio........had fosgate and some kicker stuff but left that one alone after looking at other brands........my whole set up is JL the only thing that is different is the HU which is a Pioneer DEH-940MP. componet set from JL the XR series subs 12w6v2's and amps all JL Slash series.

but it is an ongoing thing since companies either go out of business or produce better equipment.

That's mostly because it takes me forever to actually purchase everything I need, and once I do it tends to sit around for months before I get around to installing it.

If you get addicated to the car audio bug then the installations and customizing or even doing basic stuff does not end. I have been into car audio since I was 17 and have had over 11 vechicles. I am 28 now and have had a system in every car except my 64 impala on 10 switches. I had very little room in that so just did componets in it. Just try not to let yourself get to wrapped up into prices. That is where I got into trouble. I couldnt even tell you how much money I have spent in audio after all these years. But I like JACK FROSTS idea. Get it all and wait till you can either get an awesome installer to do it or take your time putting it together.
