How long do subs last?

could outlast your car if you dont abuse them

i dont believe that, i think in an auto environment a subwoofer is put through some pretty tough conditions, i would say if you take good care of them 15-20 years, i have some subs from the 80s, but there about to crack in half and the surrounds are getting dryrotted but if your like me, maybe a year?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

From 10 minutes to 10 years.

We have a guy that has a set of 12's that are 6 years old, but he does not play them that hard.

So It depends on how you use them, Full tilt everyday and they may last 6 months or a year. take it easy and they will last longer.

I would imagine that subs rated for 300w rms

live an eazier life than subs rated for 1500w rms

feeding each sub their rated power - I would expect the 1500w rms sub to last for

only a fiew years before its suspension is worn down to far out of specs "loose"

vs the sub eating up its 300w of power should last at least twice that long

given that both are quality build subs from a good manufacture.

sub mounting position and size may also play a role in how they last the test of time.

subs mounted verticly, do not experience the psyical weight of the cone constantly

pressing down on the suspension, and the cone weight of a 18" vs a 10" can differ

also adding to the equasion.
