how long do bikes last?

Offroad riders tend to be good on the street. How do I know? Not only have I heard, but I went from 10+ years of motocross to the street. But be careful on the road, trust me I've learned that here recently. Cars and people talking on cell phones, they dont watch for bikes. So you have to be on double alert. Also small rocks if your not careful, or an oil spot will throw you around. But If your looking at a decent bike with around 15k for 2,000. your doing pretty good. I've had a R1, that I took on long summer trips I sold a year ago with 65,xxx miles. She still ran great. But you better take allot better care of it then you do your car. And you mentioned a bike being cheaper trust me it's not. I got a new r1 now, I get about 32 mpg, but it cost me about .25 cents a mile after you add it up for tires.
well its ok i figure i will drive it daily for probably 2-3 months and then i hope to get a new car or truck and i will take care of both the motorcycle, my car or truck, and myself. thanks

There is no saying "this bike will last this long with this maintenance"

How you break the motor in is something that can make a motor last 20k or 50k.

Motors that average 10k rpm, high compression, don't have nearly the same life span as a car motor.
