Assuming they are receiving 400 watts a piece, and the box will be tuned to 33 hz, how large should a box be for 2 Skar VVX-12s? I emailed Kevin and he said 3.6 cubic feet after displacement. Would that be about right?

Does that include displacement of the subs (.15 cubic feet each)

Here is the box Kevin designed

Width : 32

Depth : 19

Height : 14.5"

tuned to 30hz, is 3.6 cubic feet after displacement (including the ~.3 cubic feet displacement of the subwoofers)

If I'm running 800 watts @ 2 ohms (400 watts to each sub) would it be better to make it slightly bigger at ~3.8 cubic feet?

Even lower than 30hz?

Also, I'm seeing if I can increase the depth a little bit to get to 4 cubic feet and I will see what happens

edit: okay here are the new box specs

Width : 32"

Depth : 21.5"

Height : 14.5"

Tuned to 30hz

Would that be 4.0 cubic feet after displacement of port+subs? I think that sounds good right there

Well, the dimensions for 4 cubic feet after displacement is what Kevin came up with. I'll probably go with that and pay today, is that the one I should be going with over the 3.6 cubic foot box? Keep in mind I only have 400 watts to each sub

i know i built mine to spec for one and it wants more space easy and lower mine is tuned at 34hz i would go 30hz or lower

ive ran mine at 150, 300, 500, 700, 1k watts and it sounds good on any of that

I had my box shipped from kevin, and it is 2.09cube for 1 12". That is the entire box, after displacement of sub and port, i'm not sure what it would be, but probably close to 1.7 or 1.8 (same as yours would be). I asked him to tune it to 30 and it sounds great. They are Kevin's subs. I would trust what he says and as suggested above, if you want a second opinion ask a good box designer such as mobile or ram.

Why does everyone insist on tuning low? That is not always the answer to getting the desired output. Even if it is lows. Application plays a massive roll in tuning and sub/port placement.
