ok so ive been wondering this for a very long time and i dont understand how this is possible.

ok so to start out i have a pair of RE SX 12 running on 2k rms (atomic 3000.1d) on a 4 cube box tuned to 34 hz

my friend has a pair of shitty 10 Pioneer subs (blue cones) 150 rms each some pos kenwood 3 (yes 3) channel amp in a tiny sealed box maybe 2 cubes at best.

i dont understand how my system dosnt **** his. my ears hurt just as bad in his car as they do mine. the only advantage my system has is the extreme lows (35-25 hz)

i drive a 2000 300m and my friend drives an 01 VW passat sedan. why is my system not loud. i have 200amp alt as well. both seats fold down in both cars.

is the cabin of my car just that much bigger where i need tons more cone area to get loud or am i just an idiot.

i think i want to buy like 8 of his subs (might get 12's tho) seal em up and try it out. should it be louder than my pair of sx's?

BTW his system sounds equally as clean as mine if not cleaner. nothing is installed wrong in my car either i did everything including the alt swap myself. plus my friend dose not even have a HU, he uses a LOC.

Light subs in a small box so they can take max watts = loud is what i've found.

Edit: I've got biggish amps and a 1500 watt rms sub but they sit in my kitchen because they are quieter than my cheap subs on fewer watts in a box that is nearly twice as small as recommended.

I used to own a 15" RE SX D2 on a Sundown 1500D @ 1 ohm in 4.5 cubes tuned to 30Hz and it was extremely loud..

Work on the box..

i had a previous enclosure that was 5 cubes net @ 32 hz really was only good for the lows tho. highs were not as loud

the box. his is sealed and probably hits the higher frequencies close to what yours does and his will not at lower frequencies.

They are being reconed as we speak but i may have them sold locally for $350 so your gonna have to pay at least that plus shipping. but if the deal falls through i will be selling my freshly reconed sx's for $325 plus shipping.

this is my second enclosure for them. the first was 5 cubes @ 32 hz. all the boxes are braced and double baffled. i built them myself and i have built many before these so i know that boxes are built well.

both boxes have ~60sqin of port cant rember exactly off hand. i think the new one (4 cubes net) is like 62 and the old one5 cubes net) was like 58

There's your problem right there. That car is hard to get loud. I have a 99. Dude I know with 2 pioneer 12s and like a 2 channel Interfire amp in a 2002 Impala appears louder than me. My guess is your buddy sounds louder outside of his car than you do outside of yours. Blame that luxury engineering for that. Inside mine sounds great. Outside, I won't be winning any drive-by competitions.

actually my trunk is about to pop open from the flex and my car rattles and flexes way more than his, but you are correct his car seems louder outside as well. but shouldnt that mean that the sound isint staying inside and should make it less loud inside?
