How is it possible that I'm getting ZERO dimming yet my system is still draining my battery? Obviously my alt cant keep up enough to keep the battery charged. But I dont understand why I'm not getting dimming from the voltage drop... BTW, this is on a stock electrical system.Wallyworld batt.Only running ~400 watts..but I've read that my car has a 37amp alt. I was excited to see no dimming since I've encountered it in every other vehicle I've owned...And then I was quickly pissed when I got stranded for an hour and a half cause my **** battery was dead. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Would the "Big 3" even help in my situation?

did you actually measure the voltage with a meter? Have your electrical checked? Could just be a weak alt or an old battery.

are you sure your amps are turning off? they may be staying on and you dont even know it, thus draining your battery. It's happend to me before; the amplifier remote terminal was bad on that amp.

also, what car is it?

The car is a 1980 Chevette. I know my electrical is shitty. What I dont understand is the lack of dimming. I havent measured the voltage...but I'm pretty sure I'm getting voltage drops. I'll check to see if the amps are turning off when I cut the car off...that's a good idea. Thanks

Well, my battery is totally dead now. Wont hold a charge. Ugh, car audio can be frustrating. There is always something to buy/fix... yeah broke sucks.. but dont worry it will get better. i found a redtop on here for 85 shipped which is a hell of a deal. problem is, my alt cant keep up with the ~1300w rms im pushin at full tilt so the battery will provide that for a bit then the battery unfortunately will also die. i am going to need a new alt if i wanna keep the battery alive

Believe it or not....I've heard that so many times in the last month or 2 I've had this car it's crazy. Most likely wont be up for sale any time soon. I can get discounts on batteries. I just dont know if I want to spend any more money on audio. Plus I'm BROKE at the moment and the car is sitting dead in the driveway now. Makes me wonder if the ~$500 worth of audio is worth having.
