How important is heat shrinking when using butt connectors for install?

I know the reason is to prevent moisture and corrosion on the metal wires/connections, but is it that important to use heat shrink butt connectors versus standard butt connectors when installing a receiver? I'm asking mostly because I already made a bunch of connections using non-heat shrinking butt connectors and wondering if I should have used heat shrinking ones, and if I should re-do it all. I plan to keep my car for a good decade at least and I do happen to live in Seattle where it does rain a fair bit as you may have heard... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

In the dashboard is about as far away from the elements as you can get in a car. Is heat shrinking it better? Yes. Will it matter? Probably not. Redo it if you want the piece of mind, otherwise just run with it. The factory wiring is shoddy and that stuff lasts decades anyway.

Not necessary but if its what you're into then go for it
Thanks! I will skip it then.

get the butt connectors with built in heat shrink
Thanks, I discovered those at Lowe's and that does seem like an ideal option. Unfortunately, they only sold them in varying size packs @ $10/pack and I would need to buy 3 packs so I just used non-heat shrink butt connectors and finished my install.
