how far would sound travel in .1 ms?

If you're speaking of Time Alignment/Correction on your HU, why would you actually move your speakers.

That's the entire point of the Time Alignment feature, it delays the sound in .1ms increments to correctly align the position of your speakers...

Cēterīs paribus at 70*F speed travels at 1130 feet/s.

0.1 miliseconds is .0001 seconds. 1130x.0001 = .113 feet.

0.113 feet = 1.356 inches.

Time alignment replaces the need to move the speakers for proper alignment.

how fast would sound travel in .1 milliseconds? i'm positioning speakers and figure that if they are facing directly towards the drivers seat then I should position one exactly the distance of .1 ms, because that's the incrimental value allowed by my headunit..
If I am thinking correctly, I think you mean how much delay do I need to correct for the variance of distance between the drivers and passengers side drivers, therefore you want to know how much delay to insert into the path of the passenger side to result in the signal reaching your head at the same time.

Correct?

Thanks! .. And to every one else.. I do know what time alignment is and that you use it to correct for poor speaker placement... but i'm trying to design my system for the ultimate in clarity.. so.. in order for the time alignment to work really really well, the .1 ms increments would have to be small enough to correct the alignment.. so if I make sure that my speakers are in 1.356 inch increments away from my head, then the time alignment will be able to work to the full posible potential.. because ideally it would be great to be able to go down to like .001 ms, but this would be the next best idea, imo...
