how far off is the old type of meters(7 years ago) to the new ones today as for db's?

I used to have 18 rf 12's in my astro van. (cheap ones. buy one get one free) $900 for all 18. then I bought two used mmats d100hc for $300 each.(each sub getting 160watts each. plenty for those) two yellow tops for $100 each. plus wood and wire. I probably had $1800 in the hole system. back the I was hitting 157 on the dash. for cheap *** subs it was loud. broke my front windshield. just wounding.

I have experienced a 6-7 dB difference from the old dB Drag mic system to the new Term Lab sensor system. The Term Lab is lower. So your old setup may hit around 150 dB on the Term Lab. I have seen others report greater differences though.

Most Astro's windshields hold to high 160s on the Term Lab in the 60-70 hz range.

Were you playing a low frequency?

****, im not old school like you guys. I didnt think it was that big of a difference though. So if I had my new setup that is in the works 8 years ago or so I would have been metering in the 160s. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yup.

2003 was the first year the new system was used. dB Drag changed halfway through the season which sucked because in late 2002 I had just purchased a meter. So at 2003 finals I tested with my old mic system and was doing 163s. Then in the lanes I did 156.3 dB

I have done more comparisons over the years and results were always 6-7 dB difference but the mic was very tempermental and could read as much as 10 dB high if not calibrated properly.

sorry the pics are bad. they're pics of pics
