How far does bass travel?

1 hz - 1155 ft

2 hz- 577.5 ft

3 hz- 385 ft

4 hz - 288.8 ft

5 hz - 231 ft

10hz-115.5 ft

15hz-77.01 ft

20hz-57.75ft

25hz- 46.2 ft

30hz - 38.5 ft

35hz- 33 ft

40hz -28.88 ft

no need to go further... the lower the hertz the longer the wavelenght

mnay variables... density of air... and velocity of sound in air which is approx 353 m/s

The longer the wavelength (lower frequency), the less compressions and expansions (interactions in general) the sound has to make while traveling through the air. Due to this, lower notes travel farther...as to how far, that depends on a TON of factors.

EDIT: I finally made it to 1000!

Sorry to jump off topic but I have a similar question.

At what frequency does sound become multi-directional? For home audio applications (surround sound) I was told that it doesn't matter where the subwoofer is placed in the room because the ear can't tell where bass notes are coming from (as opposed to vocals or other instruments)

How does this apply to car audio? I am not talking about subwoofer placement for getting the most "boom" but rather how imaging is affected with different bass frequencies. Thanks.

Grahm

You want the midbass (60-200Hz I am concidering mid bass) in front of you, not below. Basically you want everything besides sub frequencies in front of you for proper imaging (in its very basic sense), but I am sure someone like squeak will clarify it a little more.

I highlighted the only correct part of your statement...sorry. Even then, a Hertz is a cycle *per second*...it's a measure of frequency.
At this point, I'd love to say, "Yeah, that's what I meant. Typo." But the truth is, I was dead wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am glad we did not have an e-fight on that one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif
