How does this home audio sub compare to my car's set up?

I have not seen one sealed, i dont think they will be effective sealed in a home theatre environment.

but anyways, you can also try to hit the pawnshops, i just scored an inifity powered sub 12 inch for $35 couple of weeks ago

for the price you cant beat the dayton prebuilts, really 150w on a 12 in your dorm will be way too much anyways, its too loud in my apt and i cant turn the level past 1/4 playing xbox

My sister bought the Dayton 12". The only problem is. The port is too small IMO. So the sub doesn't really hit the lows that well. My logitech 10" hits the lows better.

He really should just Do it himself. Then he can make it sound how he wants.

I got the 12 also, the version before this one, the one with the square removable grill, they go on sale about every other month btw. Anyways I really have no problems out of mine, I havnt even had the cahnce to really air it out anyways.

But I also have a 4 pack of these

Dayton Audio TT25-16 PUCK Tactile Transducer Mini Bass Shake 300-389

Best **** $40 I spent in my entire life, have 2 on each side of the couch, they are hooked to a plate amp I ripped out of an old KLH sub. If you have the level too high they can get annoying but they will knock all the remotes off the couch lol

In fact if I had to choose between those or a sub I would have the shakers and no sub

I have these for the frt/cntr/surround. Bought 3 pairs. They pick up pretty good from like 60hz up. Really in that setup, especially in a dorm or apt you dont even need a sub

Umm you'll want an 8" max. A 15" in a dorm room with 500 watts will **** off your entire building and overpower everything.

Don't be stupid guys.

do the bass shakers actually create bass? or imitate it by shaking?

I completely missed that this was for a Dorm room. Wow. You are right. A 15" would be pointless. You wouldn't even hear your other speakers in a Dorm. I have a 10" in a medium sized living room on 100 watts and it keeps up. I agree. For a dorm room. An 8" so that you don't **** off your room mates. And a 10" if you don't care about them.

Google tactile transducers, they vibrate, kinda lol. With strong surround speakers, not some weak 3" fullrange, you don't need a sub. Of course if you had your own house and can play as loud as you want you cant replace a large subwoofer. Both together is even better, they add so much on the low end that you can miss in a movie or games. For playing music they don't do much really though. I figured I would try them out being in an apartment and now I wouldn't have a surround without them. If bothering your neighbors is a concern then I would buy those first instead of a sub.

umm sub+amp + dorm room+ RA= bad? I dont know how your college is but most college dorms ive been to dont allow amplified speakers, not to say you couldnt sneak it in but I think someone is going to notice it

Dang. I only use it for music. I pretty much only watch documentaries and discovery.

But that sounds like a great idea for dorm/apt guys.
