what is even more interesting is to show what happens as the 300hz wave becomes smaller and smaller.

well, actually, if you did a 30hz and 60hz/90hz and then reduced the level of the 60hz (2nd harmonic) or the 90hz (3rd harmonic). 300hz (10th harmonic) is a bit unrealistic to be found without any lower harmonics.

basically, you see that the shape is different, but there is no obvious 60hz/90hz notes mixed in. in many real cases, you don't get to see the combination of two distinct and strong sine waves, but rather the combination of many smaller sine waves. the end result is a repeating wave that is not shaped like a sinusoid.
