I'm building a ported box for 2 12's and I have a couple questions before I build it this weekend. It's gonna be about 5cf and i want to tune it to about 24hz. should i separate them inside the box? should i use square ports or circle ports? thanks

28Hz is the lowest I'd do for daily use...no real point in tuning lower, unless your playlist consists entirely of Baroque organ pieces it's not needed, and the vehicle's transfer function will help out with the bottom octave anyway.

Could you explain in a bit more depth? I tuned my box to 29hz, mainly to improve SQ and lower the group delay of bass frequencies. Is there anything wrong with tuning low as opposed to say 35hz?

with a tuning fork!....jk

IMO I like it in the low to mid thirtys. Gives tremendous lows with good higher response.

You might want to tune a couple hertz higher than their resonant frequency.

Ah... so tuning lower will make it roll off in the upper range harder? Because it rolls off after 80hz like a mothafucka. The subs were fantastic in my old sealed box... but now theyre loud as shit on rap and some rock.
