How do you think it's going to look?

It's your car. Do what you like. This forum is full of people that do not understand a work in progress. Prime example :

It's your car, I wouldn't bother asking anyone on this forum anything having to do with MY car.
Agreed, and i think i'll also remain with you on keeping my car to myself

um yeah that wont look gay at all! i see those on every ****ing scion, tacoma, and cavalier... why the hell did you have to ruin that car too?

You see 3m $45 stick on scoops that are 1/2" tall and 1' deep. You don't see scoops that are custom molded onto a hood.

You're going to make your car look like a f'ucking joke. YOUR ENGINE DOES NOT REQUIRE A RAM AIR HOOD, ERGO NOT FUNCTIONAL AT ALL!!!!!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif  //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

sorry captain GPRacer, it just won't look right. However, how much did you pay for that peice? You said it was custom fiberglass, so why didn't you just go ahead and buy the full hood? However, Grand Prix's, *can* have potential. However, it would appreciate some sort of forced induction before you had a ram air "scoop."

Buy a full hood?

Hmmm....Give me a link to a 88-96 Grand Prix aftermarket hood. Anything, cowl, ram-air, hell i don't care if it crumbles on itself. Find an aftermarket hood for my car and show me the link. There IS NONE.

And forced induction...lol...you guys have not seen my motor...

Seriously, get off the guys dick.

I used the word 'poser' when I was in middle school, fighting with someone over who could properly do a kickflip as opposed to a heelflip.

yes well the term still applys

and i have that shirt

Here you go.. read the whole article and see if you sitll find it completely necessary to spend all the time to put that scoop on a hood... if you want the look then by all means go ahead but for actual functionality here is some reading //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

"While it's appealing to imagine the forward velocity of a vehicle being converted into free supercharge, the actual air pressure gain is extremely small at vehicle speeds. For example, at 150 mph, the pressure gain when air is efficiently brought to rest is 2.75 percent. Because this is a dynamic effect, it is proportional to the square of the air velocity. At a more realizable vehicle speed of 75 mph, the effect (again with 100 percent efficient conversion of velocity into pressure) will be only one-quarter as great — that is, just under seven-tenths of one percent. "

It is not the ramming of the air that has the effect it is the size of the airbox, air temp and design of the airbox.

"In order to implement ram air, the carburetors or throttle-bodies of our engine must seal to an airbox whose volume is large enough that the intake cycle of one cylinder cannot pull its internal pressure down significantly. Box volume is typically 10-20 times the engine's displacement. Then the forward-facing air intake is connected to the box. When this assembly is tested on the dyno — even without an external fan to simulate the high-speed rush of air past the intake — it is discovered that the engine's torque curve is greatly altered, with new peaks and hollows.

While that is an interesting read, i'm not really going for the "ram-air" effect. More so cooler air than anything. If i want more "rammed-air", i'll port and polish my M90 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

My engine bay gets very warm, and being my intake goes right over my cross-over (way to go GM //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif ), i need something to keep it cooler in there. Also it is partially for looks. I'd rather have these then just cutting holes in my hood and adding mesh.

I have wrapped my intake piping with a headshielding material, and that helped out a bit.

My next mod internally is the probably one of the ZZP manifold intercoolers. I'd love to have that air-to-liquid one! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

But the other scoop is just dumping into the engine bay for more air flow. My headlights had some holes in the plastic mounting for flow, and since i put the covers on, it restricted it some, so this may help out a bit more with that as well..

I think if you like it, Do It.
Oh i'm doin it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif It's about 1/2 way done now. Most of the glass is laid. I love this shit. It's so clean and easy to work with.....
