How do you seal a box correctly?

I use screws + Liquid Nails. Other options would be liquid nails by itself, or screws + silicone. Or screws + Epoxy I suppose, although that would be expensive.

gorilla glue. screws every 4-5 inches or so... clear silicon on all the inside seams...

carpet the box so there is no air leak around the sub once you get

it mounted...

should be good as gravy...

a home depot or lowes depending on which you have

in your area...

theres not much to it really...

i just go to the fabric store... jo-ann fabrics around these

parts... but im sure you have your own local fabric store...

yeah, im usually the only guy there and they usually ask

me why im buying all the black clearance fabric... but i

can carpet a box for around 10 bucks... which makes the

ordeal worth the trip...

no i dont play for the pink team...

i guess you can get carpet at car audio shops too...

dont waste your money on gorilla glue or liquid nails...

1 5/8" Coarse thread dry-wall screws

Tite-Bond glue

make sure you pre-drill and counter-sink

dont ever buy speaker carpet. go to a fabric store and buy "FELT". stronger then speaker carpet, just as flexible/moldable, comes in dozens of colors(funky and standard) and 1/4 the price. the only difference is the felt isnt as fuzzy.

check it out. the red one is felt, the gray one is speaker carpet.

i use screws, liquid nails, and then seal it with silicone

i use liquid nails for the bond, not necessarily for sealing.

but i mean liquid nails is like $2 for a tube...so its like $5 for caulk/Liquid nails so its not a big deal to me.

mdf @ home depot is like $25, typically it costs around $50 to make a box, but you can easily make one for $30-40 just using your dad's stuff in the garage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

edit: BTW make sure you get 3/4" MDF, not 1/2". it will be much stronger.

if you're on a tight budget go to where they cut the mdf...they have a 'scrap bin' and sell extra wood dirt cheap. Once I got a sheet of 3/4" mdf (missing two inches off one side) for $2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.
