how do you convert volts into watts

The actual number is going to be less, because that's assuming 100% efficiency between the two. Nothing in the real world is perfect, so even a Class D amp is going to actually produce less power than calculated.

 
thats a helluva lotta watts to be feeding a type-e, might need to upgrade soon
i had a top shop set my gains, they do $30,000 installs, seems to be fine, been running it this way for a month or 2

a top shop or DIY'er can set the gains right so your amp isn't clipping. The problem is going to be damaging the voice coil latter down the road. because your feeding the sub more than its rated for thermaly its causing the voice coil to heat up

or they could be setting it high so you can blow your shit and come back and upgrade.
