how do you calculate sq ft for a box

i know its dumb to ask but how do you calculate the airspace for a box for instance if you have room for a box 44in long 24in deep and 18in tall?

not quite shure what the question is here but why do u wan 2 know the sq footage? u want to know if u need 2 buy one or two boards of mdf? etc... elaborate please!

i was just trying to figure the volume of the box, and going by this method

FIGURE 2 - How to Calculate Internal Box Volume

Area (rectangle) = Length x Width

Volume (rectangular box) = Area (of one side) x Depth

1728 Cubic Inches = 1 Cubic Foot

28 Liters = 1 Cubic Foot

the box with the dimensions i mentioned above would have a total vol of 11 cubic feet right?

that doesnt seem right at all!

no it wouldn't. it mean that a box that is 44x18x24 and 3/4" wood would mean that u would have 9.13ft^3

ya, the back of the box will have a angle slant to sit flush up ahainst my rear seats so i figure that will drop a little of the volume. so with

W=44

H=18

bottem D=20

top D=16

i should still be at the 6.7 mark.

now all i hafta figure out is what size port to put in firing upwards to make it sound right!

it will be 3 kicker cvx 12s with 1500.1 on them, i may drop the size to 6.25 but i want to stay in between that and 6.75

an i figure if i do like 6.5 with the magnets facing in the box it will take up some airspace and make it close to 6.25
