How do the Crossfire VR series amps rate? Specifically the VR402

I just bought this amp for $70. Is that decent? It is used but in good shape. I will use it to run 2 10" JL AUDIO 10W1 subs. It is supposed to bridge at 400 watts rms.

I also have an Alpine MRP-M450 on the way but bought it before I realized that it only puts out 220watts into 4 ohms. My subs are 8 ohm so paralled I would only get 220 instead of the 400 that it puts at 2 Ohm. I can get 400 watts from the crossfire.

Which one is better? Thoughts?

Which would you keep.

It puts out 400Watts at 4 Ohms at 12.5 volts. And the amp is VERY high quality. I know I am personally going to be buying the same amp when I buy my components. The VR series amplifiers are outstanding IMO!

Will be closer to 500 Watts at 14.4...

Well I bought it. I guess I will test out the difference myself. I was wondering if the difference in S/N ratio between the 2 will make a difference in volume?

The crossfire is 97 and the alpine is 65 DB.

Will this make the crossfire play louder watt for watt?

I had always understood that to be the case, I would think a 32db difference in the s/n ratio should make some kind of noticeable difference, but as far as how it will affect subs? Honestly not 100% sure....heck, 70 bucks is a steal regardless, hook it up and see!
