I bought this sub from here no problems with the seller but this is supposed to be the flat wound d2 alpha. My thing is when I run it with my Pb Xa 3k which Iv been told this model sub should handle that much power ok... Well it dont it sounds like it bottoms out real fast, like I run my volume on 18-22 out of 62max and hear odd sounds coming from the sub, I dont really hear it as much out of the low notes but the high tones I do. The box its in is a 4cf 55sqin of port 36hz Let me know what yall think

Get a side pic of the motor. Ive had an Alpha, it looked like that, but i need to see the side. I would really recommend tuning lower. But mine took my IA 20.1 daily easily. It had Flatwind coils and Extra stiff suspension. It could be your box possibly.

BTW, im 95% sure that its a Alpha.

yeah humm, I built the box just like the Rd tec told me and it sounds great but

I dont know, The magnet just dont look as big to me. I guess I could weigh it to and compare it to Rd specs

Prolli would be the easiest and quickest way to tell if it really is a sonance.

The rd sight dont tell me the weight. But my subs mounting depth is 9in and thats the same as the Alpha. Also I do know it was reconed by "Steve Millers" who ever that is?? But I figured if it was a bad recone it would make that weird sound all the time...

After looking at the half moon shape hole just below the magnet you can see there is a ridge and it dont come all the way down

but the sonance does come all the way down... I guess it is a Alpha, and if so Im not sure what the problem is... ugghhh

Could be the dust cap isn't glued all the way around. I had that happen to one of my sub and it took me forever to figure out why the higher notes made a weird sound compared to the lows, even at low excursion.

OMG I think I found the problem, I was shining a flash light into the half moon shape holes and on one side there is a shinny streak on the voice coil where it is rubbing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif inside there, but when I mash down or pull up on it I cant seem to get it to rub or make any scratching sounds:confused:

yeah me too And it was mine lol but now since the coil is rubbing I guess Ill sell the motor... Or something, Or can I fix it some how??
Recone is the only thing that comes to mind... Did the seller mention anything of a coil rub or anything of that nature?? Has this been happening since you bought it??
