how do i hook a headunit up outside of my car??

ok well i took my stock radio out and left a cd in it, i was gonna open it up but its all star bits, so i thought about it, and I would like to set up a bench for testing headunits, and possibly even amps, so what do i have to to to hook a head unit up say in my workshop??

get a litle 12 volt power supply from parts express or somewhere and plug it into a wall and there ya go

its usually two screw terminals a pos and neg and depedning on the size you get you can hook up in amp however the largest ive seen anywhere was a 40amp

no they have a big one on parts express i just looked at ... but how big of a power supply do i need just to hook up a headunit???

I did the same thing a week ago. Took the power and ACC wires on the positive, and the black to the negative on a car battery, then pushed eject.

worked. Watch out for sparks though lol.

just use a car battery

^^^^^^ agreed, or you can use a car battery charger. Been using one for testing for years. Also, the 12 volt jump boxes work great too.
