how do i get a beefed up DD recone?

last time i reconed my sub, i asked about the possibility of a stiffer spider, or aluminum coils. they told me no, that the only options were a composite dustcap or cone.

i see a pair of 9510's here with aluminum Z coils, stiff suspension... what gives?

i'm putting a memphis 4k on my 9518g at 1 ohm for daily, and i'm wanting it to be able to take everythings it's got. i've been dealing with scott at DD for recones, do i need to talk to someone else to get what i'm wanting?

Tell Scott you want to custom piece your recone. He is usually pretty helpful.

Scott can hook you up with a stiffer suspension. I was breaking the glue rings on mine and this option solved the problem. I would also add a CF dust cap if you dont have one already. You can also try glassing the back of the cone before installing it. The composite cone option is a bit expensive.

my problems before have been burning up the tinsels inside the spiders, but i've been clipping it some trying too hard with my lowly kicker 2500. do you think the z coils will be overkill? would there be any chance of getting QVC's from the 9900s?

i havent put the memphis on it yet. also keep in mind, i dont compete, this is strictly for daily beating.

i'm running a DD M3 daily on a new 3510 triple stack which should be close to 3000rms at 1ohm...and have done so for months without problems...as long as you have a clean unclipped signal...I see no reason a g couldn't take 4000 rms daily...

Not overkill. Running 4k in a daily application is asking a bit much from any subwoofer. Why not switch to a smaller pair of subs and get a little more use from all that power.

i just want to be sure none of the options i'm adding are going to make it TOO power hungry and less efficient, to the point that 4k with those options actually not as loud as it would be with a looser suspension, or a standard coil.
