How do I calculate box size for two subs?

I'm still a big newb at this whole box building stuff. So I finally figured out how to build a box to spec based upon a particular sub.

The sub in question here is a P3SD410 shallow 10. Mounting Depth is 3.5 inches...and recommended sealed enclosure is from .4 - 1.0 cu ft.

So according to my calculations, a single box using 3/4 mdf would have external dimensions of 17x21.5x7...this would yield .99 cuft.

So how do I now account for two subs? I want to build a box that will still yield the proper amount of cuft of .99 per sub...so how is this calculation done?

Oh...and I should mention that I'm building a false floor, so the depth of the box is most important to me here...I'm trying to lose the LEAST amount of space as possible.

Well...my initial intention was two seperate boxes. But now that I'm realizing that I'll be wiring the speakers in parallel, I decided to put them in one large box. I didn't plan to seperate them.

But at this point I'm looking toward the experts (you guys) for some tips...

and I'm trying to hit around .99 cuft per speaker. That's the max for the speaker.

That begs another question...is it always best to hit the max cuft for the speaker?

Maybe this will help to give you an idea of my plans as well:

Roughly estimated depth of box...should actually end up about an inch more though:
