How crappy is my amp?

Hey guys,

So I've got this Bazooka el2100 that is powering my sub. It is 330w/500w (rms/peak) amp with built in crossover, boost, etc. I'm not having any problems with it or anything, but I'm curious what kind of difference, if any, I'd hear if I put a nicer amp in.

Mike

crappy.

depending on what sub, i dont think that amp is honestly rated. id guess its overrated a bit. but if you like it with the power you have it, the only difference to upgrading would be better sound quality (from a new BOX and sub) and more power (loudness? again, box dependant)

you would have a better gain from building a good box than getting a new sub or amp.

That depends.

If your sub is ~300w then putting a 500w amp on it isn't going to do much besides increase the chance of damaging the speaker.

If you put a more expensive 300w amp in, you'll hear little to no difference.

If your sub is capable of receiving more power then yeah, a bigger amp should make some difference, hard to say how much.

I'm running a single, sealed Infinity Perfect. It can only take 350rms anyways so I don't really need more power. That is, of course, assuming it actually puts out the 330rms it claims it does.

Funny thing about the infinity perfect; It takes 350rms, but 1400 watts peak. I've never seen a speaker with such a huge difference between rms and peak.

Mike

I wouldn't push the Perfect anywhere near 1400..

Picky fukin amps..

Stick to the rec. RMS and under or problems always seem to arouse for that particular sub...

IE sourround and vc..

infinities seem to be really picky, ive blown 2 in the past and yea, gonna go with expy on this one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fart.gif.9285a21c4a53b1a914c9dedbfcf9d894.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

watch the power.

How crappy is your amp, it is as crappy as the rest of the amps that come out of whatever build house makes it in Singakoreachinatiawanapore. It is as crappy as whatever other amplifiers the same build house makes for whatever company contract them to do it, be it Alphasonik, US Acoustiks, Crossfire, or insert brand name here amp. It is a respectable amp.

That doesn't hold true all the time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
