Look like older RF subs. No reason they shouldn't sound decent. I've seen plenty of full plexi enclosures. They are usually a gimmick for show cars but they sound fine if they have the right volume of air for the sub being used. Looking at his box, it looks like the tuning might be a bit on the high side.

If he's going to put an "actual" install in there thats one thing but he just shoved it in the trunk and it sort of looks like a fish out of water there. I guess what I'm trying to say is looks like it belongs in a show car.

I agree...

That just dosen't do justice at all. I could see a large plexiglass box like that in the back of a show SUV or something, with the wires hidden better, but not there. I agree with the tuning as well, ports don' t look long enough.

It's always leaned that direction. Not sure how cheap you can really get anything done these days. Deadening and custom mounting locations/prep is going to be expensive and/or time consuming...

You're not going to know until you test with a meter. Typically even carpeting a box as opposed to painting is going to lose a few tenths.

These are decent budget subs. The box design isn’t bad at 5 cubes for these, but I’d drop it down just a little and raise port tuning up to 32. 4.5 cubes tuned to 32 HZ with 60 SQ. Inches of port...

The correct answer is yes, you want both left and right so you get low end information from both channels. It is very common for recording engineers to use panning to create a soundstage which...
