How can I increase SQ from 12" L7?

I have been a little disappointed with the L7's SQ since I got it. Here lately it seems to have gotten worse. After I installed a High Output alternator and upgraded the big 3, it seems worse (i'm thinking my amp is getting more voltage hence more power, and that means its giving the L7 more power than its rated at) The L7 is in about a 3.4cu. ft box tuned to 37hz (i think). I adjusted the amp to give it a little less than 750rms but now I think it may have increased to 800 or so. I can't adjust the amp correctly because my voltmeter is broken. I already have bass turned to -2 on my hu and that helps some. Any other little things I could do?

Lower your crossover setting and plug your ports and see how that sounds.

woah nelly. 37hz for SQ is WAY too high.

also, if you want it turned down a little- assuming your gains are set correctly. turn the gain down.

try and tune that box to more around 30hz and it will sound much nicer. PM Jmac and send him $10 via paypal, and he will design the best SQ box you could make for that sub. but you gotta give him the details and all.

i had a guy already build this one, it was moe lester from the forums here. If i get a new box, i'll probably get different subs too, just because i'd want a total change. its incredibly loud, which at the time thats exactly what i wanted, but now i'm gettting more into sq.

My suggestion is...

You said you already have ur bass on -2...just zero it out. Then build a large sealed box...the sealed box will have better SQ...it takes some space for the L7's sound good! So...go with 3-4 cubes sealed...peace

Actually I've seen L7's in SQ comps just for your info , also like NG said its all in the install wrong install can mean shitty sounding system. Had to drop my two cents my pockets are full cant hold any more change lol .

Ok, they can have great SQ, but the enclosure is what is killing you. Want more SQ, yet have some bump, do a 2.25 SEALED box...that will sound soooo much better...yet still have some bump you wnat for daily.
