how can a brand new orion h2 blow at 1200 watts?!?!

profilepower, you ruin every thread. stop it. no one wants to hear what they should've got (especially when you're sugggesting a pioneer instead) when they blow their sub. you are no where near a car audio expert, and shouldnt insult those who are by giving yourself that title.

orion is hot, my friends 1 12 beats out anyone at school..... there are people with 2 15s......... and 2 12s...... wow i have to say orion is sexy. sucks for your sub man thats gay.

well how bout you guys tell me how to set the gains properly so i dont run into this problem, i have run over the setting gains sticky and it didnt make much sence....if i have a multimeter where and what do i need to measure, and hopefully this is the last time something like this will happen....third luck is the charm

thanks

You set the DMM to Volts AC, place the probes on the speaker output of your amp (red to positive and black to negative), play a 50hz 0db sine wave (don't use music, someone could get you a sine wave file for you to burn onto a CD if needed). Then, you just turn the gain knob till the DMM reads the voltage you are aiming for (V = sqrt[watts * imepedence], sqrt is Square Root, V is Volts). So, for example....if you have a 1200w amp, and you are running it at 1ohm, you'd set the gain to 34.6V (34.6V = sqrt[1200 * 1])

oh shutup tom. orion is a good company and there subs are awesome.
Jeez bud...you didn't have to take it as a personal attack //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

He doesn't like it when i say bad (and TRUE) things about orion.

recently got a brand new orion h2 dual 4 ohm hooked it up in parallel to a jbl gto 1201.1 stable 2 ohms, in a small sealed box....gains were set low and wasnt being played hard, i put my convertable top down(top did not come in contact with sub) and the sub started smoking and went out, these subs handle 2000 rms so it should handle the wattage finethe bass boost was set at max but the imput level was set low....any ideas? the power issues i was having stoped after i did the big three, so i have a clean power supply going to the amp.... I ONLY HAD IT RUNNING FOR ONE DAY!!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif
I see what you said about your big3, but possibility you drew too much current dropping the top, underpowered the amp? Sounds reasonable to me. Maybe a grounding issue?

i did the big three after the idmax blew and before i got the H2 so in the middle

well i thought the problem with the idmax blowing was power issues with the system shutting on and off, when running the H2 i did not have as bad as power problems(the amp and sub didnt shut off due to power loss), so now are u saying doing the big 3 made me have too much current? dropping the top?...convertable top? if so how would that draw alot of current? im 90% positive everything is grounded well
