how can a brand new orion h2 blow at 1200 watts?!?!

recently got a brand new orion h2 dual 4 ohm hooked it up in parallel to a jbl gto 1201.1 stable 2 ohms, in a small sealed box....gains were set low and wasnt being played hard, i put my convertable top down(top did not come in contact with sub) and the sub started smoking and went out, these subs handle 2000 rms so it should handle the wattage finethe bass boost was set at max but the imput level was set low....any ideas? the power issues i was having stoped after i did the big three, so i have a clean power supply going to the amp.... but good luck...just thinking how much did that orion lesson cost you?????

my gear: jensen/boss amps 150x2 each.4ohm. blaupunkt 3 1/2dash,jvc5 1/4 doors. cerwin vega 6x9s 3ways.pioneer 1-10''sub.permo wiring....jensen deck, 2-5v outs ''best feature''

i myself dont use the bass boost on my amp.....because to cant adjust it from our set.all songs dont need more bass...

Did you break in the sub or did you just turn it up full blast right when you got in the car, that -might- have been the problem, probably not though.

Bass boost destroys subs......specially new ones that are not even broken in yet

Maybe you just got yourself a faulty sub? Hey, stuff like this happens and can be easily fixed by sending it back to either the dealer or manufacturer. But hearing this i highly doubt this is possible even at 1200 watts. Also, never use bass boost, lol It's the number one killer of subs.

and profile i hope you get shot and ****ing die one day and hopefully i'll be the one to witness the shooting and say you fell on bullet.

just take it backif you can. I think it sais something in the warranty about having it installed by a professional installer but ive never been asked for proof. Whoever you bought it from is gonan try to blame it on you though or sumtin u did.

Yeah, sounds like improper tuning which results in clipping.

yah ive already sent it in for a exchange for a new one, i thought if u set the bass boost high and imput level low that you get the same result of doing the opposite(imput level high and bass boost low) but i guess not, from on ill keep the bass boost OFF! what about the xover freq? should that stay high or low?....the sub was not turned up all so high i was trying to break it in so it didnt get too loud ...i got it from cbrstereo.com they aggreed to exchange it hopefully it wont take to long...

Really a waste......just set your gain properly the first time, forget about bass boost, and then you don't have to worry about that giant hump in the response. Higher gain with no bass boost will be louder over the entire frequency range and will sound a lot smoother to boot (all compared to a high bass boost and lower gain setting).
