how big subs/what size?

i'm new to this whole car audio thing. i want some bass, enough to sound good and shake the seats a little but nothing thats going to cause hearing damage and rattle the cars next to me at a stoplight

i have been told that if this is what i want, i should get 2 10"s or 1 12". The problem is, i'm on a budget of about $200, $250 at the absolute most. can anyone make any recommendations as to what i should get, including subs, box, and amp? is a package deal a good idea? it looks like i can save $ that way.

also, installation looks expensive, and i don't have the skills to do it myself. Are there any stores (best buy, circuit city, etc) which will do the installation for free if I buy from them? but then again, i probably wouldnt save money that way because everything is alot cheaper online.
