HOW ARE MY SYSTEMS?

Yea, yer sound is rated in dbs, or decibels...the higher the number of decibels, the louder your system is.

On another note, I just finished doing an install in a '79 Ford F-150...I find it funner to do systems on old vehicles that don't have an install kit readily available, so you pretty much HAVE to grind metal, cut plastic and run wires to make the deck work...the truck I wired today had no radio in it before, and a 17 yr old guy owns it...I don't know HOW he survived without tunes that long, he said that he and his buddies usually sang and hummed while they drove around, so I'd like to think that I added to the quality of their lives today...*Laughing*

A DB is a unit of measurement for sound. I have a 1997 F-150 with 4 Polk DX10-4's and with 2 PPI 2125's, and a PPI 480 on a comp. set in the kick panels and 5 1/4 in the doors. During a recent test it ran up to 156.1 in SPL. It is a new box design that I have been playing with for 3 years. We hade 2 Polk 10"s before in this box and it hit around 150. So we hope to be doing some contest by Sept.

ya know, that stereo is gonna be kinda loud.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif :p Lets just hope that kid has lots of ear plugs on hand...

You got it!!!! I think the old man got sorta pissed when I told him that the kid would have to lose the rear sitting. But come to find out the kid is his only grandchild.

Lucky kid! He's coming by today to look at head units! Will keep all of you informed!

hey *****,why dont you take that one trophy and go put it next to kickers 5000 other trophies they have one with there L7's. That is fine and dandy and i am glad that you hit that hard with your subs. But don't start dissing on Kicker when they have the **** to back it up. So tell us all you want about how nice yours is but i dont want to here some pansy say that kickers arent even good for thumping in the neighborhood. even you know that, that is a bunch of bs.

peace,

jared

i agree with him, i would never run kickers prolly. only ones i would run are L7's just for the wow factor and SPL scores. but i dont think they make a great product.

audiolife,

Thanks for the advice, I'll just wire them at 2 ohms and be happy camper. another question if I may?? kicker suggest 3 types of boxes to use for optimum sound, do you have any experence with the factory specs that they suggest? I've never built a box for subs so I'm going to have the ones they suggest built.. (street bass or comp box all out SPL) these will be in my everyday rider (1999 honda odyssey) if you do (or someone does)know about the boxes which would be the best for everyday listening and receive SATURDAY NIGHT BRAGGING RIGHTS! or should I just have 2 sets of boxes built?

thanks again
