how are kicker amps?

I was looking at the refurb deals they have at sounddomain for the refurb KX650.4 for 230. that seems like a really good price, and sounddomain seems to have a good return policy. anyone have experience w this amp? Also is the 4 gauge wire necessary? my car is currently wired with 8 gauge, and i could rewire it to 4 gauge but i'd rather not. finally, how does this amp compare to the jl 300/4 or the clarion apa4320? these would be powering a set of comps and some coaxial rearfills/

If you go with kicker amps. You better supply good power to those amp or they will blow. They are power hungry amps.

they wont blow you weirdo. if you dont supply em enought power, they simply wont produce their rated power.

however, if you push them too hard, they have a shorter lifespan like all electronics. kicker makes some high quality amps - and id say go for it if it does what you want. a good 4 channel amp is going to run about $200 - so thats not bad at all.

anyway the KX amps are very solid amplifers, I have dealt with countless ones, and SoundDomain is a good company to deal with, great price and good service, can't really beat that

a refurb means it has a dent/scratch...small....

as far as them blowing, our return rate is very, very low...and most cases we find, the amp has sand, water, or just ran wrong form the git go...

i dont mind it being a refurb and all, i just wanted to know if spending the extra money is worth it or not really, between the different amps. and also if it is really necessary to upgrade my wiring to 4 gauge for the kicker. if i did i might rather just go ahead with the clarion.

well, its not about being incorrect. It's what my experince with the kicker was. Thats why i switch to JL and i have no problem so far.

you'd be amazed what people send in..we ahve seen woofers with BULLET HOLES through them, asking for a warranty....sand in amp boards, from being in the trunk, water logged amps....crazy.
