I have my mind set on an Adire Tempest, and i designed a box for it (5 Cubes, Slot Port, 32hz). I need to buy an amp to power it, and was thinking along the lines of a 400 watt mono. Is it possible to buy an amp with a higher power rating, and put less into a sub, such as buying a 600 watt amp and only using 400? Either way, im all ears to any suggestions.

as far as the amp situation, its fine and probably better to buy a more powerful amp, and just turn down the gains as mentioned before.
