HOT DD !!!! *ouch*

class a/b amp. my mids/highs amps have always gotten hotter than my class d's. maybe i'm just and odd one out.
same here, the polk amp that i had got FREAKIN hot everytime , after lot of listening and 1-2h road trip, but NEVER shut down

24 is almost unbearable on my alpine hu.
i was listening to a low-level live recording. trust me 24 is friggin loud!

it's also mounted on the back seat i'm sure the carpeting doesn't help the heat issue.

ummmm well i moved my 100.4 off my seat and mounted on my box in trunk, also added a 100.2 and moved sae 1000D in trunk. My 100.4 and 1000D both got extremly hot. the 1000D would turn off. my grounds are great, and my voltage always around 13.4 running kinetik 2400 and 1800, and iraggi 200 amp alt. big three and 1/0 ground and power run.

The 100.4 doesnt get hot to touch ne more it actually like room temp, not hot not cold, and 100.2 gets little hotter (pushing it decently) and sae 1000D still gets hot and turns off after 1.2 hours of pushing hard with little ventilation.

But id say factor is the back seats, little ventilation + carpet = hot amp if ur pushing it decently loud.

Mike-

i agree othermike. my sub amp is on the uncarpeted enclosure. like i said barely warm. the DD voltage is around 13.4/13.7 no shut downs.

I use a zapco 350.2 for sub duties, and play that mofo HARD, and it never gets hot, ever. It stay just as cool as my memphis st 1000d did

up'ed the ground to 4ga and secured it better. changed my comps to 8ohm comps. up'ed the gain on ch 3/4 to 28.3v from 24.4v. ran it for the same amount of time listening to the same live show. when i put my hand on it, it felt like someone with a high fever. not that a fever is a good thing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif i will also be changing both amps to 4ga power wires with 100 amp fuses from the battery next week.

i'm still on stock battery/alt with no big 3. both amps show 13.7v with the car on when tested with a DMM.

that was an option if it didn't cool down after doing what i did. but it's not as hot anymore. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Are you turning the volume up higher than before or did you adjust the gain or bass boost?
