yeah 1100 watts is all he can afford to run right now cash wise as well as electrical wise...is running 1100 watts really going to effect sound that much? be it its 900 watts under RMS?

RMS on that sub is 1600, not 2k.

well transaction went well with 6spd....great guy, sexy car....hopefully the trade went as well as id hoped....

question though...we got the xxx 12 in 1.2 cubes sealed....USAmps 1600.2 bridged at 4 ohms....should be seeing 1100 watts.....only thing is we have an air leak...enough to where its audible and you can feel the air leaking so we might have to re do the box....

but heres the question....the output isn't anywhere near what we would think it should be....even for sealed and under RMS what it can handle it should wang a little harder than it does...

do you guys think its his HU, or the leak is just too bad

ok so heres the deal...stock HU in a 96 volvo...8 gauge power and ground, leaky sealed box....where should i start in making this thing have some more output...

fix the box

change the power wire

change the box

new HU

up power wire to 4ga, run a bigger box with that power.

You aren't at a loss, you've already outlined your major problems, including implied ways to fix them (fix leaky box, or change boxes, increase pwer cable size, etc). Are you asking which to do first? If so, and budget is the problem, fix the leaks in the box, a little ingenuity and not many dollars at a hardware store should fix that. Then spend your cash on either the h/u or the wire. Save up for the other, and then change boxes later if still unhappy.

alright thanks guys....first fix is leaky box....then i think he is alright with the power the sub is getting so im gonna try a nice ported box when im actually home for the summer....then ill go wire then HU....thanks all

For a design jus got out and start measuring, do the math and seewhat it comes out to. Too big, take a little off the width or depth. Sealed boxes are pretty easy.
