hooking my brother up..i think

well as it turns out my younger brother...name is "rarmstrong" on here decided he wants to get into car audio.....

i was the test subject when it came to car audio, i started out with your typical walmart 10's in a plexi box, then some sony pentagon subs, then an alpine type R and now my 18Q.....

when he said he wanted to get into car audio i figured id help him out and make sure he did it right the first time...thanks to 6spdcoupe his first setup will be:

05 RE XXX 12 d2

USAmps XT1600.2 bridged into 4 ohms (1100 watts)

the box im not sure....i wanna do 2 cubes sealed because he wants to save most of his trunk....anyone wanna throw me a design for your typical trunk car 2.0 cube sealed enclosure....

ill be picking this stuff up for him this weekend...

any suggestions/comments more than welcome...build log this weekend.

i consider him hooked up. funny how we all start out the same way (most of us). i did the same. jensen bandpass box, then jensen xs 12's, moved up to kicker, etc.. now into my SQ phase with eclipse. although we all start out the same, alot of us talk shit to the people doing exactly what we did lol

get em an 880 PRS. i know.. bandwagon, but they are **** nice. i must say my CDT 61A comps are amazing, maybe look into those? or maybe a lil higher up..

that usamps wont bridge down to 2 ohms?

That's because most of us started young, dumb, and poor. My first car audio was a 3700MP, a Crunch amp (which got hotter than 3 hells) and a 10" Powerbass off probably no more than 200w.

Then I moved on to some decent coax's and a speaker amp. And now I have my two AA 8"s and a 590IB. Basically, my system is slowly getting better. Over the summer, I plan to get some good 6.5"s, a nice amp to power them, and two 12" CVTs or those new Kenwood shallow subs.

What? He's got a dual 2 ohm woofer. Not dual 4

Are you just wanting ideas for 2cuft sealed?? I guess easiest way while practically keeping room in the trunk is to just make it as wide as possible but shallow as possible and put it in the very "back" (against the rear seat) as possible.

i suggest getting close to to the trunk, with the sub facing the trunk. thats how mine is going to be, reflects faster into the cab. since its sealed.

yeah...anyone wanna draw me up a box thats like 2 cubes net sealed....max height id say we will keep it under 15....width and depth can be anything as long as it wont tip over....

I know exactly where your coming from man.. I went with 2 Jensen 10's in a prefab and a VR3 amp to 4audiobahn 12's to 3 jl 12's (on kenwood 800)to 2 RE sx's (soon to be on a memphis 4kw)

I wanna help my lil Bro out too. I gave him my explorer on 20's with my new Sony "stealth" cd player (which I still love) and he was bumping my SX's on a Lanzar (temp) until he got his car impounded.. so I snatched out my box and amp.. But I have told him 1000 times i would/could get him some bang for the buck..

I think what you're doing is great man.. Blood is thicker than water.. and I hope ya whole plan turns out better than expected

so now the family has an 06 grand cher. with an 18" in it and a 1996 volvo 860 turbo with a XXX in it....its gonna turn that car to shambles....but oh well....
