ok so i have a Type R 12 (shocking i know) I was planning on powering it with a mono amp, not sure which one yet, but then i was thinking I'll be getting a component set a little later on, so would you guys recommend getting an amp i could power the sub and the components with or 2 seperate amps? (keep in mind im on a very tight budget..around 300 for the comp set and the amp) Thanks much

get a mono amp for the subs and a separate 4 channel for the comps

If you are only going to be running a front stage and sub with no rear fill you could buy a four channel amp. Use it now for your sub, once you get your components you can use two channels for the components and bridge the other two for your sub. A four channel amp will most likely have an onboard crossover so that is one less thing you will need to buy. That is your best option for keeping the budget down.
