Honestly, how much of a change would i get from going from sealed to ported?

I have an RL-P Dual 2 running off of a Nine.1 amp, in a 1.03 cu ft sealed box, and its loud, but it barely sounds louder than my 250 watt Infinity Perfect subwoofer. With 1200 watts i never would have figured it wouldn't be loud enough for me, since i had been listening to a 250 watt sub for years before upgrading. Right now its in a prefab Subzone box, if i put it in a 1.25 ported box, would the difference in output be noticable?

because going from the Perfect to the RL-P w/ an extra 1000 watts was barely noticebale, and im pretty upset right now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Yes. It will be louder. Much louder. If you have never ran a ported box you are missing a lot of output:)
Any way you can get 1.5 for that RL-p?

I dunno, my trunk is very small, maybe if i made a long box i could? First i need to find someone to build a box for me for a reasonable price though (prefarably local). I made a thread asking what was wrong with my sub that the output is no more than a 250 watt sub, but now im thinking maybe nothing is wrong with it and my box is too small for that amount of power.

It will be the difference between night and day... If you build a proper ported enclosure, you should be able to tell the difference, and it should be incredibly noticable.
Well i figured going from a 250 watt Infinity Perfect to a 1200 Watt RL-P would be a night and day difference, but its not at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif Most of my friends couldn't even tell i changed my sub!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Did you change the amp as well?

thats because something is wrong with the set up. You need to get it looked at before thinnking of going with different boxes. You will be surprised how much output it will have once its properly working.

a Perfect w/ 200 watts is going to wimper to a RL-p with 1200.

is the box that its in, 1cuft net or gross?

Plus.. The stiff spider on those subs. Didnt someone else just make a thread about their RL-p not putting out, and it just needed some break in?
Oh cram it...

I would put money on the build of the box. You would be amazed on how a flexing box effects the sound. A properly braced box is the way to go:)

Try building another sealed box first. Call the manufacturer and ask for a reccommended sealed box deminsions. Because ported boxes are more difficult to build but is possible. But ported boxes do provide an octave deeper than sealed boxes for a given driver. Basically if you want a ported box expect to have a big box. But sealed you will have a smaller box.
