Well my dad is giving me his 2006 Honda Pilot because he is moving to something bigger...So, my plans to install in my old F150 are out the window so I am making a new work log, if you will. The main goal is going to be great SQ.

The Pilot:

The System

*12" Fi Q

*ZX1000.1

*Rainbow SLC 265s for front stage.

*Rear fill undecided.

*ZX350.4

*Kenwood X-990

*Kenwood Ipod Adapter

*SWI-JACK to adapt steering wheel controls to Radio.

*Play station 2 slim for rear DVD screen.

*40 Sq ft of Damplifier for doors.

I already had a box made for my F150 but I am not going to able to use that one so I need to build another. I am going to attempt to build my own this time.

I plan to store the amplifiers in the hidden rear cargo hatch and fabricate a vent to circulate air into the cargo storage.

I will update as I go along and will add pics of the audio components.

If you have any suggestions I would be glad to hear them.

If you want to be able to use the third seat, make sure your new box isn't any wider than the larger half. That way if needed you can fit one more person in the third seat. The short half, on the passenger side, is the one that slides forward for third seat access.

The rest of it is pretty straightforward. The HU is double DIN. The factory 10" sub is behind a panel in the back on the passenger side. If you rip that out there's room for electronics. There is also a panel under the rear deck that's for third seat headrest storage. You could use that for amps but there isn't much air circulation.

Good luck.

Actually I plan to have the box fit on the smaller back seat on the right so the left two can come up.

I also plan to modify the headrest storage to get more air circulation and store the amplifiers in there.

I am am assuming you have a Pilot also shovelhd?

My wife has one with just the stock audio system (her choice). I just know the vehicle. If you put the sub box on the short side, and fasten it down properly, how are people going to get into the third seat? I guess they could climb over the second seat. Only the short side slides forward, at least on her 2003. Maybe they changed that going forward. I can't help with the sub but my gut would tell me to face it towards the hatch.
