Serious talk. No spam or b/s please.

I got assign with this stupid quote, and i hate working with quotes. I just need to analyze the stupid quote and explain how it relates to reality. Can anyone help me out with this one please?

Quote:

"A toad does not run in the daytime for nothing."

Thanks Much!

It's hard to anaylze the quote with out knowing what context is it in. Is it taken from a book or what is it relating? Is that where your job comes in? heres how I look at it...

"a toad does not run in the daytime for nothing"

toads do not run in the day time because during the day they could be hunted. they run at night to have the cover of darkness. so "for nothing" means that the reason they run (which can probably used the same as hunt)

The toad that runs in the daytime will most likely be killed, the one that runs at night will not.

It related to realty, kind of like darwinism. Saying "Only the strong survive". The strong ones being the ones that run at night, and vice versa.

That is the way I see it....

was there any class discussion leading to this assignment? what are you guys studying right now in that class? i think that posting that quote is too out of context where in class it would make a little more sense.

i think you are on the right track, but not in the right mind frame.

i think it means something more along the lines of what you do when you can be seen is different than what you do when nobody can see you.

dayum bro, that's pretty good. much props for that analysis.

I look at it like taking a gamble. The toad, running in the daytime, is taking a gamble that it will be killed by its predator. I see it as the toad is running for a cause that is worth dying for. You can apply that to reality: most worthy causes are the ones that involve risk.

Someone do my homework too, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

1. Explain why and how man leaves the state of nature, according to John Locke. How does Locke's state of nature differ from Hobbes? Can paternal authority be the basis for political authority, and why or why not?

2. Describe Locke's argument concerning property in some detail. Include his theory of value (labor) and his theory of money. How does this general argument fit in with his political argument?

3. Is progress in the Arts and Sciences good for human beings, or not? Explain Jean Jacques Rousseau's answer.

4. Describe Rousseau's state of nature in the Discourse on Inequality. How does man get out of that state? What does his argument say about all existing societies?

If this is for Philosophy, i strongly recommend you do the work yourself.

Philosophy is a great course for anyone to take.

Also livinlife, i strongly recommend you try to do your work by yourself. Sure we can give you answers, but you should honestly take the time and do it on your own. You will get much more out of it.
