Home stereo from car audio?

Okay i was wondering if this can be done, im sure there is a way of doing it but is it worth it? I was thinking about a three-way set of two components (6.5 and 5.25) with both tweeters in each tower cabinet with two towers total. Like an all type-r system (just an example) 5.25 and 6.5 compents in there and a 10" type-r woofer. How would you go about powering the system? Are there home audio amps that will put out that kind of power or would it need to be run off of a car amp?

Well, since you'd be powering a sub, you'd want to slap a plate amp on the back of it (it's basically a car amp, but it's for DC). You know how home audio subs have that metal plate on the back with the plug that goes into the wall, well you can buy those for your DIY home audio speakers.

Now, if you weren't putting the sub in there, you might be able to run it off a high end receiver/amp, but I'm not sure how much power those Type Rs would need to be sufficient.

I'm sure others know other ways to do this too, this is just some stuff that I've seen done before (and I might have not described it right, but I know you can buy plate amps for subs).

It can be done, with the subs, you would want to most likely wire them into a series, if you get 2 4 ohm, or 2 DVC 2ohm, if you were to get 2 DVC 4ohm subs, wire each sub into a series to present an 8ohm load, and you can either wire them into a series and present a 16ohm load, or wire them into a parallel and present a 4 ohm load. (I think that's possible, I'm not sure). Most home audio receivers have 8ohm loads, but some do have 4ohm loads. Just make sure you get the appropriate receiver, and wire the speakers to the appropriate load. I had a car stereo being used as my home stereo, but I used a 12V battery charger, and used EVERYTHING for a car stereo, worked great too.

P.S. My car stereo turned to a home stereo was an old Pioneer HU, Kicker by Stillwater Designs 6" speakers, and some home audio tweaters, paired with a single 12" Depth Charge and a 400W Depth Charge amp, and that thing pounded, until my roommate moved out and stole it... I wish I could find some of the Depth Charge subs, not to thread jack, but does anyone know who they were made by? I've heard Fultron makes them, and I hear Memphis made them?
