Ah, yeah that's my point exactly, I wouldn't use it because it's not sheilded, especialy in most cars where you have electro field city with interfering signals everywhere.

the paper I have in front of me are copyrighted. As far a finding info on shielding look up EMF,EMI metal permeablitiy, and low freq EMI verses high FREQ EMI

I don't think I can explain it any easier. the effectiveness of shielding is related to the FREQENCY of the noise. around 1mhz the shielding starts to SHIELD the cable. using a neon light as a test tool is retarded. If your worried about that freq of noise than you'll have to shield everything not just the wires. Do this test --- make a call on your cellphone and stick the antenna near your HU BET you get noise even with shielded cable. If you feel this type of noise needs to be shielded against rap your deck in tons of foil.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif Most noise occuring in a car are in the audioible range like alt whine and relays clicking and poping.
also the resistance of the2 are not even close. head unit preouts are matched for the different resistance of the - and + in the rca. were as the resistance of the - and + of cat 5 would be even not making it a perfect match,
this isn't ture and doesn't even really matter as unbalanced type signals are single ended. The source impedance is in series with the signal. You are confusing balanced type signal parameters with single ended systems. what i'm saying is if you think you have a need to shield against radio freq by all means don't stop at the signal cables. Wrap your processors, amps and HU in foil too.
although most people cant tell any audible difference between the 2 unless they have a lot of interferance indtroduced around the system. But that is just what I read. [/b]
In a car having inducted noise problems UTP are a night and day difference campared to the coaxial cable that were design for noise free places ----like homes

I really dont see what the big deal is if it works for you, good, if it dosent your not out a lot of money. I use cat 5 wireing almost everyday for something, just not my car audio. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
