Home audio forums

AVS is like Myspace to me, the color scheme almost gives me epilepsy...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Honestly, I'm still trying to find a home audio forum that I can really get into, the best discussions seem to be on Audioasylum but their board software is circa 1991 and makes things hard to find or keep up with.

I hate AVS forum just because of that color scheme...

Plus every time I go over there someone says something really dumb and everyone jumps on his bandwagon even though it is completely wrong...

DIYAudio has some of the best technical discussions, but every thread there gets like 10+ pages and turns into an epic archive.

But it's good for a read. I lurk there and occasionally ask a n00bish question if something doesn't make sense to me.

re: DIYAudio, solid state section

There's a handful of good people in that large fish boil of wannabe electronics

people who think they know what they are doing, but really don't. It's easier

to filter out the bs if you take some electronics classes, otherwise don't take

every word as being golden. Nelson Pass making a home there probably lifted

the forum to new popularity long ago.

re: AVS forum

The newly added DIY speaker area is coming along pretty nice. Like many forums,

it's concentrated in sub builds. I've punished alot of people on amplifier myth

so they are coming around

The theater construction area is good.

The $20k section is comedy, good for laughs.

The projector threads are informative.

re: Htguide

If not for a few posters, that forum is no better than anywhere else. Thomas

seems to implement 'Nazi' based forum moderation; if you don't agree, post rights removed, view only.

re: Partsexpress

"I want to build low cost speakers and post alot of OT topics because I like

chatting..................." lol

re: Madisound

"I'm too cheap to afford modern forum software", a few die hards try to keep it

alive. The recent migration to new software is only worse.
