we need a delete thread feature...just an idea...I know it's kinda late to suggest that but just now thought of it...
might have been brought up during this thread but haven't read through this thread..

Moderators can delete threads.

Or are you wanting a feature where users can delete threads that they started themselves?

Users can delete..like within a time limit so they aren't just deleting after a month or sometihng. and of course mods can delete any time.

A) I wasn't referring specifically to you, Cap'n Canada. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif If I were to bother to think which mods I feel are actually unfit to hold the position (and it would take some time and dedicated research to come up with an objective list if any at all) I don't reckon you'd be one I took any lasting issue with.
B) I have no problems with the mods taking action against an offender. There obviously has to be some sort of controls in place to keep the forum mannerly. I do think, however, that at times the punishment does not necessarily fit the crime. As I am not a mod, though, in the long run what I think doesn't make alot of difference. The only reason I made mention of the situation involving you in the first place was to make whoever cared aware that there was a different opinion on the matter.

I think a lot of people are confused about the temp-ban thing.

I'm sure the system would work similar to the following.

Clear violation of the TOS and two+ mods agree, set up the temp-ban.

A thread would be started in the Backroom discussing the issue. Beer would be consumed.

If the violation isn't as bad as once thought and doesn't justify a ban, remove the ban.

Depending on how minor or bad the offence is, set a time limit.

Keep in mind, the Administrator (with his unbiased view) will ALWAYS have the final say.

Okay - I can't see any problems with that. Providing it works to the letter as you've described and more or less eliminates the possibility of a personal vendetta being acted out through unreasonable means then I'll wholeheartedly support you guys getting it instated.

I'd also like to see people be banned from just the Classifieds section, but one step at a time.

It would appear, Goob, that you're not so keen on the idea of moderators having the power to enact a temporary ban on a member who has gone off the reservation, so to speak (this assumption based on the fact that I haven't seen you comment directly on the possibility).

If it could be made to work like ss3079 and I were discussing above I think it could be a good incentive for members to moderate themselves knowing that they could be bounced immediately for a set period of time if they cross the line to a sufficient degree to warrant such an action.
