Holiday Gift For Everyone!

It would have to be a direct violation of the TOS along with the agreement of more than 1 member that it was offensive enough to be given points to. At least I can't think of any alternative.
I'm pretty sure that would make this forum worse than it already is. This place would turn into a huge popularity contest. Plus I can already see it now... 100 threads in the lounge of "Why do I have X amount of points!?? I did nothing!" as well as the other rebellious posts and so on...

Too bad that would require mature mods... I'm for it if you make strict rules for the mods.
When have I (or the majority of mods) senslessly abused our powers?

Sorry, but it thoroughly pisses me off when I'm lumped into the "immature moderator" category for no damned reason at all. If you want to call someone out by name, do it (in another thread, not in this one) and leave the rest of us out of it.

And even if someone doesn't agree with one of our decisions, such as deleting a post, deleting a thread or closing a thread with all of their following "you crossed the line" BS threads......that doesn't mean it wasn't the right action to have taken. We had our reasons, and normally good reasons, even if it wasn't popular opinion.

If it makes you feel better, I'd be up for having another mod vote when the increased mod powers take effect.

The day I see mods changing people's posts to stupid nonsense like "I'm gay! wee!" is when I stop visiting this forum.

If you wish this forum not be a better place to visit, then we don't want you around anyways. Giving the mods the power to handle the duties we are supposed to be handling is a good thing, not a bad thing.

There ARE times when deleting an entire post isn't necessary, but removing portions of it is. In which case, editing posts would be extremely nice to have because presently we either have to 1) delete the entire post, which removes some information which may have been worthy of staying in the thread, or 2) ask the poster to kindly edit their post.....which they hardly ever do after being asked (and hence option 1 therefore occurs).

Yeah... riiight... "Offensive post! 5 points!"
Not totally, but pretty close.

A good example; All that crap that happened in the hccafan thread. snoopdan and RFCV would have both had points tacked on for the bs they pulled in there.

You want to get rid of useless posts get rid of post count. To many post *****s who make useless topics and uselss replies. If you took away everyones off topic post count no one would be over a 1000, or at least very few.

Umm, I never lumped anyone into an immature mod category... Infact, I don't even know who the **** mods will be when the new rules take effect.

What I did say was... if mods ARE going to have more powers, there should be a way to keep them in check. I don't see how I'm wishing this forum to not be a better place.

i say with the classified have some kind of system set up to where if there was a transaction set up, if 2 people agree on it, give the seller a seller star, and buyer a buyer star, or something like that, and have a respectable mod hand out who deserves what, IE just check the good feedback, and go from there, then to eliminate people who just want there shit to go up, get pics from the seller and pics from who received the equipment, its allot of work, but it could work................

I think a rating system for online trading similar to the eBay feedback system would be good. My only sale thus far here on CA.com was to a member of 7thGenCivic.com (or something like that?) and that is what they have in place there. You can leave a positive, a negative, or a neutral - just like eBay - and it can give a much better idea at a glance whether or not you'd like to risk trading with someone.

There ARE mods here who abuse their powers. It's unavoidable and frankly, really not worth mentioning. It happens here, it happens elsewhere, and no amount of whining about it will change it. 'Nuff said.

An increased character limit for PMs would certainly be a welcome change.

A more definitive explanation of what is considered off-topic might be good as well. The "Lounge" is specifically for off-topic conversations yet I have seen posts and even entire threads get deleted or locked for being off-topic. The majority of the members here have a firm grasp on what is and what is not acceptable and have a tendency to follow the rules. I have seen, however, multiple instances of what appears that someone has simply gotten on this mod or that mod's bad side and mass hysteria results.

This can be a great forum, guys and gals....the only thing keeping us from it now is the apprarent inability to work together towards the same common goal. It's not brain surgery, folks....let's get it together! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think we need way more skins and should have a reputation system where we can spread reputation points around here to those of us that are good members or those that are bad members.

My Football teams forum is a great example of a reputation system. When something has been well said or to the point, you can "thank them". It then shows how many thanks you got and how many people you thank. pretty hard to explain but its a pretty good system and i like.

http://www.glorifythepast.com/forums/san-diego-chargers-nfl-discussion/9506/

as you can see there in the top right corner you will see the thank system and in the bottom of that first post it shows all the people that thank him. By thanking him they pressed that thumbs up button by the QUOTE.

-Also, when u check out the main forum in the bottom it has a built in standalone chat. it tells you whos in there and connects you easily, i would be in there 24/7!! Very great great feature and would love to see it on the caraudio.com forum!

Other sugguestions:

Disable signatures by default. I'm on dial up, and I'm not alone. While Eugenic's sig is incredibly fun to watch, I'm currently 8 minutes and 30 seconds into downloading it, and I'm not done yet! I can't even imagine browsing this forum with avatars and signatures enabled anymore. On my bandwidth, it wouldn't be possible. Period. How many other sigs are in excess of 1.5 megs?

edit: 13 minutes and 30 seconds to download Eugenic's sig on my bandwidth. F***ing ridiculous. *right click, save..*
