HO alternator question

I have a 2008 civic lx and was curious to see what the costs of ho alternators were. Emailed Mechman and Excessive Amperage, one quoted me $549 for 220a and another $375 for 180a. Is this about what they normally run or can they be had for less elsewhere?

sounds about right.... there are a few other manufacturers out there... but the prices are all about the same. a universal can be had for a lil bit cheaper, but you'd have to fab a mount for it ... biggest thing is: the higher output you go, the more it costs

Unless you have good belt wrap, which most Hondas do not, I wouldn't try to put to high of an amperage alternator on there. 180amp is a safe amperage without having to worry with belt slip and still have good output at idle.
